Family History

We know very little about James Roger Peterson. He was born in 1710 in Halifax, North Carolina at a time when fewer than 15,000 colonists lived in the future state. He had one son and one daughter with Stella Elizabeth Boone between 1734 and 1742. He died in his hometown.

Walter Sablowski was born on June 27, 1879, in Russia (modern day Poland), the son of Frances and John. Walter's father, John, died when Walter was 2 years old. His mother remarried a man named Traszaska who raised Walter and his brother Valerie.

Walter arrived in the U.S. on the vessel SS Hannover in 1907 which departed from Bremen, Germany at a time when immigrants were expected to quickly assimilate into American society. He had two sons and three daughters with Constance Maliszewski between 1907 and 1920. He passed away on March 28, 1963, in Reading, Pennsylvania, at the age of 83.

When Michael Robert Sablowski was born on December 1, 1946, his father, Anthony, son of the first American Sablowski was 30 and his mother, Anna, was 28. He has four sons with Rebecca Ann Peterson. He has one sister. Michael enlisted in the US Navy in 1968 when he was 21 years old training in Pensacola, FL where he met and married Rebecca Ann Peterson.

When Rebecca Ann Peterson was born on November 17, 1946, in Birmingham, Alabama, her father, Oscar, was 28, and her mother, Carolyn, was 25. Rebecca taught high school math for 34 years. She was the youngest of three children having two older brothers.
